Guest Post: How to Use Your Business Website’s Blog to Your Company’s Advantage

Most business owners are aware that maintaining blogs on their websites is one of the best ways to leverage the internet to draw in new potential customers. What many have a hard time with, though, is the actual use of a blog to its highest advantage. Here are four tips for using your site’s blog to bring new customers in and increase your reach.

Mix Information and Promotion

One of the first things you need to understand about a business blog is that it isn’t an advertising platform in the traditional sense. To lure and keep readers, you’ll need to provide real, useful information, rather than just promoting your products. Of course, product recommendations accompanying that information are perfectly acceptable. Just make sure that you’re giving the reader a reason to visit and stay on your site in the form of good information.

Focus on SEO

The greatest power of a business blog is its ability to draw visitors organically from search engines to your website. To make this happen, though, you’ll need to perform search engine optimization, or SEO. SEO is the process of making a post likely to rank highly in results for certain search terms. To perform basic SEO, you’ll need to identify a keyword you want your post to rank for, use that keyword in your post several times, include it in paragraph headers and place it in the post title. Though there are much more advanced methods, these are the raw basics of content SEO.

Post Frequently

If you’re going to have a business blog at all, it’s important that you write new posts frequently. Frequent posting will help your search engine rankings, give your audience new content to consume and help you build your brand more quickly. Evans Tire & Service Center’s blog is great example of posting frequency as it is updated with a new post roughly once per month. It’s very important to post on a regular basis. Don’t just post once and then three months later post three times in one month to catch up. Go for once a month at least. If you can, go for every week!

Use Infographics

A great way to set yourself apart from the crowd is to use infographics in your blog posts. Infographics can boil down the most important information in your post to a simple, easily understood visual. This can then be complemented with more detailed explanations in the text.

These are just four of the ways you can use your blog to help build your business’ online presence and reach more customers. By implementing these basic principles, you can make more sales and gain a larger audience of potential customers.

Guest Post: Can You Be a Successful and Socially Conscious Entrepreneur?

“With great power comes great responsibility.” This sage advice guided a certain web-shooting teenage superhero, through decades of comic book issues, retcons, and movie franchise drama. It can also be a good tip for entrepreneurs. Becoming the owner of a successful business affords certain privileges and influence. You can use that influence to try to call attention to certain issues about which you’re passionate and make the world a better place. Some might even argue that if you have such influence, you have an obligation to use it for good, in the same way that Spiderman had an obligation to use his superpowers for good. But this isn’t such a difficult thing to grasp. Most of us want to do good in some way.

Long before Uncle Ben spoke those wise words, however, Sir John Dahlberg-Acton had a different quote about power: “power corrupts.” This is a quote that tends to put powerful people on the defensive, but it doesn’t mean that every powerful person is corrupt. Instead, it speaks to a fact that many rising entrepreneurs are beginning to realize: the more power you gain, the more difficult it is not to be corrupted. You may be faced with a powerful potential business partner who could skyrocket your business…even if you don’t quite agree with the way they do business. You may want to use your social media platforms to take a stance on a controversial but important issue, but fear losing your much of your customer base in doing so. The more successful you become, the more power you have to make socially conscious decisions, but your choices won’t seem as simple and clear as you imagined on the outset.

The good news is we’ve reached a time when many entrepreneurs don’t have to choose between being socially conscious or being a successful business. In fact, more and more consumers are concerned with the corporate social responsibility (CSR) of the companies they support. According to public opinion surveys, 88% of consumers say they would prefer the businesses they support do their part to improve society and the environment. Employees, too, are taking a stance, with 83% of employees saying they would quit their job if they realized their employers profited from child labor. That doesn’t mean that it’s always easy to be both socially conscious and expand your business, but it’s not impossible.

Surround Yourself  With Socially Conscious Partners

It can be difficult to go against the tide on your own, and the good news is you don’t have to. Think about the businesses that you admire from a CSR standpoint: the ones who don’t just claim to care about their customers and employees but actually put that claim into practice. What about the charities you most admire? Reach out to those businesses and organizations and suggest a partnership. The stronger your network of socially conscious partners, the stronger your commitment to your social responsibility will be.

You should also consider this when hiring. Find employees who care about the same things your company cares about, and promote employees who embody the values you want your company to hold.

Cut Down on Waste

The precarious state of the environment is one of the biggest concerns in today’s society. Many consumers feel it’s important to be mindful of the resources we use and not to waste what we don’t need, and they want to support companies who feel the same way. Successful businesses can not only practice waste reduction, but they can lead an example for their peers to do the same. Sometimes, this can be as simple as placing recycling bins all throughout the office and storefront or using recycled paper and reused envelopes for office supplies. Other times, it’s a change that will have to go through the whole supply chain, a decision to use recycled materials for your products and to order supplies in bulk so as to cut down on packaging waste.

Reward Socially Conscious Practices

In order to be a socially conscious entrepreneur, your business has to be socially conscious, and your business is the employees that keep it going. So find ways to get them involved. Maybe you can raise money for a charity of your choice, and award those who raise the most with time off or casual wear privileges. Make a list of eco-friendly choices and assign bonuses for each one, to be turned in at the end of the quarter. Offer paid volunteer days. Possibly most of all, open your door to employees who have suggestions of ways that your company can be more socially conscious. Incentivizing your employees to get involved in socially conscious practices will help your company to be able to make more of an impact, and it will help them feel more excited and proud to work there.

Set Achievable Goals

No matter how successful you become, you’re not going to be able to achieve world peace or end world hunger. You can’t save the whole world with socially conscious practices. Instead, focus on the things that mean the most to you as a person. Do you want to help reduce homelessness in your city? Make the world a little greener? Take a stand against child labor and sweatshops? Set goals that you can manage based on your capabilities as an entrepreneur. If you have the opportunity to do more, by all means, do more. But trying to do everything at once often leads to being able to do little if anything at all.

Most beginning entrepreneurs dream of becoming successful enough to make a difference, but the more successful they become, the more complicated that seems. One of the best things you can do as a socially conscious entrepreneur is to surround yourself with people, business partners, consumers, employees, who hold you accountable to your principles. Remember that the more powerful and successful you become, the more responsibility you have. Practice these tips and you can use that success to make a positive impact on the world around you.

Guest Post: How to Solve the Biggest Problems with Wi-Fi

Have you ever noticed that your wireless connection has much resemblance with the electricity?  I am saying this because they both are noticeable in the situation only when they are down.

Well, you don’t need to panic anymore in this case. This article will help you in solving the biggest problems with your WIFI connection. Some main wireless connection problems with that I will highlight in this article are:

1.    No/Weak WIFI signals in some parts of house

2.     Some devices having issue in connecting to the wireless network

3.    Connection dropout at random times

4.    Loss WIFI password

5.    Wireless connection range issues

6.    Unsecured wireless connection

7.    Bandwidth Hogging

Before explaining to you how to solve these issues I will let you know what WIFI is

WIFI:

It is basically a network protocol through which you can connect your device to the internet wirelessly. You don’t need any internet cord to establish an online connection in this case.

No doubt it is the most popular means of connecting devices to the internet but it is observed that people face certain issues while using it. These issues are not permanent you can solve them by following some simple steps.

1) No/Weak WIFI Signals in Some Parts of House:

Such areas in your house that are covered with the WIFI but can’t have good WIFI signals are referred to as dead zones. You stop receiving signals on your devices when you enter such parts in your home.

The main cause of this dead zone is any interference with the WIFI radio signals.

This problem is very much common. To resolve this issue of WIFI dead zone checks your router position first. Try to place it in the middle of your house so that you may enjoy its signal in every part of your house.

Make sure you have updated your router firmware to the latest one available. To do this you will need to contact your ISP or the manufacturer of your router.

Also, make sure you don’t put it near your microwave as its wave would cause an interference with the wireless signals. Cordless phones can also cause an issue with the signals.

2) Some Devices Having Issue in Connecting To the Wireless Network:

[image = Some Devices Having Issue in Connecting To the Wireless Network.jpg]

First, check the devices that aren’t able to connect to the internet are using which protocol. Some other possible situation to this issue is:

  • To connect to the wireless connection they should use the TCP/IP protocol and the settings to accept the DHCP assignment must be enabled on them.
  • Another thing to check is MAC filtering.
  • Also, check your hardware devices. Check them if they are working fine or not. Maybe the issue might be with the device and not with your wireless connection.
  • Try connecting those devices at different times of the day. Your router might have some restrictions in connecting to a limited number of devices at a time.
  • Disable the encryption.
  • Change the SSID.
  • Try to keep the SSID not more than 8 characters.

If any of the above solutions don’t work then you must reset your router.

3) Connection Dropout at Random Times:

[image= Connection Dropout at Random Times.jpg]

Just imagine a scene in that you are resting on your couch with a cup of coffee and watching a movie on the internet then suddenly your WIFI connection goes down.

Just think for a while, you are enjoying a game using virtual reality environment and suddenly you see a blackout in front of your eyes. This is because you WIFI connections get down.

This unexpected dropping of wireless connection for no reason is very much painful.

Mostly your router and network card are responsible for this dropout. Some solutions to fix this issue are:

  • You must try changing the channel of your router. Set your wireless network to a higher channel to get a good connection.
  • Upgrade your drivers
  • Open your Device Manager from the control panel. Then search for your network card. You will find in under network adapter. Double click on it to see whether there are any settings enabled that are responsible for shutting done your card abruptly.
  • Perform a power cycle of your hardware. To do this shutdown all your hardware. These hardware devices include your modem, router, and your wireless device. Then switch them on. The first switch on your modem, then router and, in the end, your wireless device.

If you experience this dropout after every couple of second i.e. your wireless connection disconnects and then connects back again then the reason might be that your wireless device is searching for IP address and the DHCP server is unable to find it.

To solve it in Windows OS open the commands prompt and then enter the following commands:

Ipconfig.exe/release

Ipconfig.exe/renew

4) Lost WIFI Password:

[image = Lost WIFI Password.jpg]

Does it also happen with you that your device is connected to wireless connection but when any of your friends ask for its password you feel ashamed just because you don’t remember your

WIFI password?

If anyone of your devices is still connected to that wireless network you can easily know its password. To do these follow these simple steps.

  1. From control panel open ‘network and internet’.
  2. Then clinking on ‘network connection’ you will see an option saying ‘WIFI’
  3. Right click on it and then click status
  4. A popup will appear. From there click on the button labeled wireless properties
  5. A window will get opened. Open the security tab. On that window, you will see
  1.

    the password

  2. Then click show characters to view your password.

If you need to get the password when you are on your android phone then you can do

it very easily using WIFI recovery app.

5) Wireless Connection Range Issues:

[image= Wireless Connection Range Issues.png]

Do you want to extend the range of your wireless signal? Well, no one can deny the truth that a single router is capable of broadcasting the wireless signal to a limited distance.

But it is not impossible to increase its range. You can do it by using a range extender. This range extender is also referred to as a wireless repeater.

It works quite differently from that of a router although it looks a lot like the router. You should place it near your main router so that it could easily boost the signals.

You might be thinking, is it necessary to buy a wireless repeater of the same model as that of a router. Well, it is not much necessary.  You should go with the one that can easily boost your signals.

6) Unsecured Wireless Connection:

[image = Unsecured Wireless Connection.jpg]

Many of us assume that the wireless connection that we have set up in our homes is secured which is not true in most cases.

  • The connection using WPA or WEP  encryption mode is said to be secured. You can check this setting in the wireless network properties of the connection you are connected to.
  • One more thing. To make your wireless connection secure change its password. By default a password is set in your router if you are using the default one then you must change it immediately
  • You must avoid using public WIFI as it is not much secured. Mostly it is available for e-learning purposes in your educational institutions. So you must avoid logging into your on such WIFI to keep it safe.

7) Bandwidth Hogging:

It might happen that someone else is using your wireless connection and you don’t know how much of it are they consuming. You can easily monitor it using a bandwidth monitoring app. You can also use an online tool ‘networkx’ for this purpose.

Thus there are much more apps which can use to monitor the bandwidth consumption quite easily.

Final Thoughts:

I am pretty much sure that now you have been able to get rid of many of your wireless connection issues. You must also try rebooting your router. Rebooting solves many issues. If anyone of the above solution doesn’t work for you then I think it’s time for you to buy another router.
