Guest Post: How to Solve the Biggest Problems with Wi-Fi

Have you ever noticed that your wireless connection has much resemblance with the electricity?  I am saying this because they both are noticeable in the situation only when they are down.

Well, you don’t need to panic anymore in this case. This article will help you in solving the biggest problems with your WIFI connection. Some main wireless connection problems with that I will highlight in this article are:

1.    No/Weak WIFI signals in some parts of house

2.     Some devices having issue in connecting to the wireless network

3.    Connection dropout at random times

4.    Loss WIFI password

5.    Wireless connection range issues

6.    Unsecured wireless connection

7.    Bandwidth Hogging

Before explaining to you how to solve these issues I will let you know what WIFI is

WIFI:

It is basically a network protocol through which you can connect your device to the internet wirelessly. You don’t need any internet cord to establish an online connection in this case.

No doubt it is the most popular means of connecting devices to the internet but it is observed that people face certain issues while using it. These issues are not permanent you can solve them by following some simple steps.

1) No/Weak WIFI Signals in Some Parts of House:

Such areas in your house that are covered with the WIFI but can’t have good WIFI signals are referred to as dead zones. You stop receiving signals on your devices when you enter such parts in your home.

The main cause of this dead zone is any interference with the WIFI radio signals.

This problem is very much common. To resolve this issue of WIFI dead zone checks your router position first. Try to place it in the middle of your house so that you may enjoy its signal in every part of your house.

Make sure you have updated your router firmware to the latest one available. To do this you will need to contact your ISP or the manufacturer of your router.

Also, make sure you don’t put it near your microwave as its wave would cause an interference with the wireless signals. Cordless phones can also cause an issue with the signals.

2) Some Devices Having Issue in Connecting To the Wireless Network:

[image = Some Devices Having Issue in Connecting To the Wireless Network.jpg]

First, check the devices that aren’t able to connect to the internet are using which protocol. Some other possible situation to this issue is:

  • To connect to the wireless connection they should use the TCP/IP protocol and the settings to accept the DHCP assignment must be enabled on them.
  • Another thing to check is MAC filtering.
  • Also, check your hardware devices. Check them if they are working fine or not. Maybe the issue might be with the device and not with your wireless connection.
  • Try connecting those devices at different times of the day. Your router might have some restrictions in connecting to a limited number of devices at a time.
  • Disable the encryption.
  • Change the SSID.
  • Try to keep the SSID not more than 8 characters.

If any of the above solutions don’t work then you must reset your router.

3) Connection Dropout at Random Times:

[image= Connection Dropout at Random Times.jpg]

Just imagine a scene in that you are resting on your couch with a cup of coffee and watching a movie on the internet then suddenly your WIFI connection goes down.

Just think for a while, you are enjoying a game using virtual reality environment and suddenly you see a blackout in front of your eyes. This is because you WIFI connections get down.

This unexpected dropping of wireless connection for no reason is very much painful.

Mostly your router and network card are responsible for this dropout. Some solutions to fix this issue are:

  • You must try changing the channel of your router. Set your wireless network to a higher channel to get a good connection.
  • Upgrade your drivers
  • Open your Device Manager from the control panel. Then search for your network card. You will find in under network adapter. Double click on it to see whether there are any settings enabled that are responsible for shutting done your card abruptly.
  • Perform a power cycle of your hardware. To do this shutdown all your hardware. These hardware devices include your modem, router, and your wireless device. Then switch them on. The first switch on your modem, then router and, in the end, your wireless device.

If you experience this dropout after every couple of second i.e. your wireless connection disconnects and then connects back again then the reason might be that your wireless device is searching for IP address and the DHCP server is unable to find it.

To solve it in Windows OS open the commands prompt and then enter the following commands:

Ipconfig.exe/release

Ipconfig.exe/renew

4) Lost WIFI Password:

[image = Lost WIFI Password.jpg]

Does it also happen with you that your device is connected to wireless connection but when any of your friends ask for its password you feel ashamed just because you don’t remember your

WIFI password?

If anyone of your devices is still connected to that wireless network you can easily know its password. To do these follow these simple steps.

  1. From control panel open ‘network and internet’.
  2. Then clinking on ‘network connection’ you will see an option saying ‘WIFI’
  3. Right click on it and then click status
  4. A popup will appear. From there click on the button labeled wireless properties
  5. A window will get opened. Open the security tab. On that window, you will see
  1.

    the password

  2. Then click show characters to view your password.

If you need to get the password when you are on your android phone then you can do

it very easily using WIFI recovery app.

5) Wireless Connection Range Issues:

[image= Wireless Connection Range Issues.png]

Do you want to extend the range of your wireless signal? Well, no one can deny the truth that a single router is capable of broadcasting the wireless signal to a limited distance.

But it is not impossible to increase its range. You can do it by using a range extender. This range extender is also referred to as a wireless repeater.

It works quite differently from that of a router although it looks a lot like the router. You should place it near your main router so that it could easily boost the signals.

You might be thinking, is it necessary to buy a wireless repeater of the same model as that of a router. Well, it is not much necessary.  You should go with the one that can easily boost your signals.

6) Unsecured Wireless Connection:

[image = Unsecured Wireless Connection.jpg]

Many of us assume that the wireless connection that we have set up in our homes is secured which is not true in most cases.

  • The connection using WPA or WEP  encryption mode is said to be secured. You can check this setting in the wireless network properties of the connection you are connected to.
  • One more thing. To make your wireless connection secure change its password. By default a password is set in your router if you are using the default one then you must change it immediately
  • You must avoid using public WIFI as it is not much secured. Mostly it is available for e-learning purposes in your educational institutions. So you must avoid logging into your on such WIFI to keep it safe.

7) Bandwidth Hogging:

It might happen that someone else is using your wireless connection and you don’t know how much of it are they consuming. You can easily monitor it using a bandwidth monitoring app. You can also use an online tool ‘networkx’ for this purpose.

Thus there are much more apps which can use to monitor the bandwidth consumption quite easily.

Final Thoughts:

I am pretty much sure that now you have been able to get rid of many of your wireless connection issues. You must also try rebooting your router. Rebooting solves many issues. If anyone of the above solution doesn’t work for you then I think it’s time for you to buy another router.

Guest Post: 5 Things You Need To Let Go Of To Start a Business

There’s currently a boom in new businesses all over the globe. Global Entrepreneurship Center’s research reveals that approximately 50 million new businesses become operational every year around the world.

Many say that this is partly due to the paradigm shift created by the global economic recession a decade ago. People have learned the harsh reality that being a loyal and high performing employee is no assurance of stability or longevity in the company they work for. So, instead of placing their professional lives at the mercy of an organization that has its personal interest to think about all the time, they need to be their own boss.

Most of today’s new businesses were started by millennials – young people at just 20 to 35 years of age. They are called “Millenipreneurs” and they’re bringing great innovations to the business realm. This only goes to show that aside from the paradigm shift caused by the recession, there are other factors driving people to start their own business.

This is why a large percentage of millennials are deliberately forgoing the life of an employee to start a business. Not only that, many individuals are choosing to work for corporations for just a few years. They only want to gain experience and generate income to build their capital.

The Path to a Successful New Business

The road to becoming a business owner is not easy. Don’t let the statistics fool you into thinking that it’s a breeze to launch a business. It’s not just about having a vision for a good business, a flawless business plan, and a generous capital to work with.

It’s also about understanding the kind of person you are. You have to know your strengths and weaknesses, as well as how to harness and optimize them so you can become successful with the undertaking.

Letting go of certain things is one of the solutions you must work with to prepare yourself for the fulfilling life of a business owner.

What are the most important things you need to let go of to start a business?

1.  The idea that only you know what’s best for the business.

Although it’s true that you know the business best because it’s your brainchild and you have the best ideas for it, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you have the best understanding of how it works.

There are many requirements to meet just to make the business legally recognized. If you’re starting a business in Dubai, for example, you need to take care of certain UAE trade license activities details, special bank regulations, and corporate tax requirements, to cite a few. On top of those, there are industry variables to consider and principles to learn.

It won’t be easy to identify and execute smart business strategies as a greenhorn. As such, you can use the expert guidance of specialists in company formation. In DMCC, business set-up companies provide education for new business owners so they can put their beautiful plans effectively into action.

You’ll be a better business owner if you recognize that you can benefit and learn from others in order to do what’s best for your new enterprise.

2. Sense of entitlement

You may have graduated summa cum laude from a top business school, but when you’re starting a business, that doesn’t matter much if you are unable to effectively execute your plans. You need to get rid of whatever sense of entitlement you have and get things done yourself.

When you’re starting a business, sacrifice and commitment are crucial. This means you must be able to sacrifice your personal comfort as well as social and physical pleasures if need be to work toward achieving your goal.

3. The need to be perfect.

There’s no doubt that you will experience different bumps along the way, but you have to learn to get over them to ensure the progress of the business that you’re trying to get off the ground.

Instead of aiming for perfection, aim to get better. This is a much healthier approach to starting a business.

Likewise, don’t look at failures as signs to stop. Consider them as lessons. After all, success is the product of “learned failures.”

4.  The tendency to burn bridges.

In the world of business, connections are integral to success. Disagreements and disputes should be considered as temporary. In the amazing world of business, it’s not far-fetched for your competitors to serve as your strong allies in the future.

5. The propensity to choose shortcuts.

Most people prefer the quick way of doing things, but this often turns into a setback for those starting new businesses. Avoid choosing the short route because there’s not much value in it.

Long processes are better, particularly if you’re learning the ropes, because they provide more lessons and a better understanding of fundamental principles to uphold.

These are the most important things you need to let go of when you’re starting a business. When you rid yourself of these, you open your life as a new business owner to great things. Likewise, you can look toward less challenging years as a start-up enterprise.
